What does Virtual Workplace Chair Yoga look like?
There are a variety of stretching, strengthening, and opening exercises that can easily be practiced while seated in an office chair. Here's a sample of a Virtual Workplace Chair Yoga sequence…
Neck Circles:
· bring your chin to your chest
· roll your left ear to the left shoulder
· come back through center
· roll your right ear to the right shoulder
· repeat 3-5x in each direction
Shoulder Rolls:
· bring your shoulders forward, up, and then down the back
· repeat at 3-5x, then reverse
· bring your shoulders back, up, and then forward
· repeat 3-5x
Wrist and Hand Stretches
· reach your arms out in front of your body with the palms facing away
· point your right fingers to the ceiling, use the left fingers to gently pull them toward your body
· point your right fingers to the floor, use the left fingers to gently pull them toward your body
· repeat to stretch the left hand and forearm
· keep your arms outstretched and roll your wrists several times in one direction, then reverse
Give Yourself a Hug
· open your arms into a T on either side of your body
· round the upper back to spread the shoulder blades wide
· cross your arms in front of your body
· bring your hands to opposite shoulders
· tuck your chin to your chest
· open the arms to a T once again
· repeat, changing the cross of the arms so the opposite arm is on top
